In a swift move by transport service authorities in Dubai, FIVE new taxi companies have been approved and licenced to operate.

The move was made after demand in the city skyrocketed.

Wow ETS, Xx Ride, Koi and Wikiride are among the recently licensed taxi services and will begin operation immediately.

Canada

A long-running taxi company in the heart of Ontario, Canada is celebrating a mammoth 100 years of service.

Amey’s Taxis has been serving the town of Kingston, ON since 1922. They started with just one minicab, and now operate 156 of the 200 taxis which operate in Kingston.

A local taxi driver was left in a rage after German footballer shows lack of gratitude.

Manual Neuer, who plays for Bayern Munich and is one of the world’s finest Goalkeepers, forgot his wallet in the back of Hazir S’ taxi. The driver found the wallet and instantly went on a 75-mile trip to return the wallet to Neuer.

The trip, which would have cost a customer over £300 was seemed to be wasted as the German international showed no gratitude and didn’t even offer a reward.

Taxi fares in the West Berkshire area are increasing. This is following the same pattern across many districts in the UK, as a response to the rising fuel prices. The maximum cost of a two-mile trip will be increasing from £7.40 to £8.00.

Currently, fuel prices across the nation are averaging £1.90 a litre for petrol and £2.00 for diesel.

Calls for the removal of a controversial cycle lane on Euston Road have been answered, with the work beginning next week.

The complaints, which highlight the issue around slower traffic and rising congestion, have mainly been from transport service providers such as TFL and taxi drivers.
